Q1: Do you provide communal single-sex changing and showering facilities?
Yes, we provide communal single-sex changing rooms. All showers are in private cubicles.
Q2: Do you provide single occupancy changing and showering facilities? If so, how many at each site?
There are six single occupancy showers and six single occupancy change areas across our Taupō and Tūrangi pools. This total includes family rooms which are completely separate from the other changing areas and provide a shower and changing facility. Additionally, we provide disability changing rooms for people who require them.
Q3: Please provide any policies or procedures that apply to trans-identified people who wish to use the changing and showering facilities in your sites.
Currently, we do not have a specific written policy. We provide separate facilities that trans individuals can use such as disability rooms.
Q4: How are your different changing and showering facilities labelled and described?
Our facilities are labelled as:
Female Changing Rooms
Male Changing Rooms
Disability Changing Rooms
Family Changing Rooms (Whānau Rooms)
Q5: At your sites, which changing room and showering facilities is a trans-identified male permitted to use?
Trans individuals can use a disability room, or if alone, they are also permitted to use a family changing room.
Q6: If applicable, do your facilities allow trans-identifying males to attend Women Only swim sessions?
We do not currently offer women-only swim sessions.
Our Verdict
No specific written policy is a risk - but they seem to be handling this well.
