Guidelines - Trans and gender diversity guidance for exercise and recreation providers

Q4: How are your different changing and showering facilities labelled and described?

Facilities are identified by symbols

SUFW note: they didn't show us what identifies male and female areas, but a coat hanger is used for a 'gender neutral' (unisex) changing rooms.
A shower head identifies showers.
They say there are still male and female change spaces but they didn't provide the imagery they use.

Q5: At your sites, which changing room and showering facilities is a trans-identified male permitted to use?

In line with the guidance from the New Zealand Human Rights Commission, Gender diverse people can use the bathrooms or change rooms where they feel safest.

Q6: If applicable, do your facilities allow trans-identifying males to attend Women Only swim sessions?

We follow Recreation Aotearoa’s guidance, therefore people identifying as women can attend Women Only sessions as these are designed to be a safe space for women.
