Q1: Do you provide communal single-sex changing and showering facilities?
Yes, at all of our 4 swimming pool sites
Q2: Do you provide single occupancy changing and showering facilities? If so, how many at each site?
Yes, family change cubicles cater to this.
Main site has 7 total cubicles (5 change, 2 shower)
Three community pools are coming towards the end of a project to upgrade Family Change rooms, and by the end of next year each will have 2x cubicles.
Q3: Please provide any policies or procedures that apply to trans-identified people who wish to use the changing and showering facilities in your sites.
There is no formal policy/procedure, but common practice is to offer access to the family change rooms
Q4: How are your different changing and showering facilities labelled and described?
Male/Female/Family Rooms
Q5: At your sites, which changing room and showering facilities is a trans-identified male permitted to use?
A person can use discretion to change in a Male or Female change room.
If asked, the recommendation would be in this case to use the Family Rooms which have private cubicles.
Q6: If applicable, do your facilities allow trans-identifying males to attend Women Only swim sessions?
N/A
Our Verdict
Nothing in place to actually provide a safe space for women and girls but they do have suitable Universal changing rooms so they are set up to provide somewhere for everyone. Allowing a person to use discretion as to which changing room they use is one of the more appalling responses!
Signage needs to be updated to reflect the reality that these are mixed sex changing rooms
